Senator Katie Boyd Britt represents Alabama in the U.S. Senate as a member of the Republican Party. Katie's current Senate term began January 3, 2023 and ends January 3, 2029. Katie Britt earned her undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Alabama, where she was student government president, and she served as chief of staff to her predecessor Senator Richard Shelby before becoming president and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama. She won the 2022 Senate race at age 36, becoming the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the Senate and the first woman Alabama has sent to the Senate.
